Using Shed Connectors

Antler Attachment

The Shed Connectors come pre-assembled. In order to fasten the "hub" onto the antler, first unbolt the hub from the device.

    1. Secure antler in a vise, making sure the antler is protected (carpet piece). With a felt pen, mark the center of the antler base. Next, drill a 5/16" hole, 3/8" deep into your center mark. Make sure the hole is drilled perpendicular into the base. (This angle allows the hub to lay flush against the antler). Insert hub with the barrel extending into the drilled hole.

    2. Drill the holes for the screws with a 1/8" drill bit to a depth of 1/2". The holes need to be drilled at an inward angle. (Towards the center of the antler). Before drilling all 4 holes, it is recommended to first drill only one hole and put that screw in to achieve proper alignment.

Adjustments:

All desired angles can be achieved by loosening the parts and re-tightening into the desired position. It is sometimes necessary to loosen a combination of parts to achieve this. (If you have difficulties in obtaining the desired "look", simply loosen all the parts and you then can rotate the antlers in any directions). Some of the holes have been slotted to achieve further adjustment including antler spread. Additional antler spread can be obtained by inserting the provided washers between the base pieces. For plaque mounts, the base also can be turned around to better fit the mount.

Shoulder and Antler Mounts:

Important: It is necessary for shoulder or antler mounts where the Shed Connection is permanently covered, that the entire device be completely encased with a fiberglass reinforced filler. (Example: Bondo Glass). this will ensure that all the moving parts stay put as well as making the antlers more rigid.
