Technical
Assistance
|
|
|
When
you absolutely, positively need the right answer to
your taxidermy questions, you need Phil
Helms, Perry Stout or Mike
Gillis. If they don't know the answer, they will
find someone who does. The best way to reach these men
is by calling 1-800-279-7985 and ask for the
Taxidermy Technical Assistance Department.
|
|
They are
at work, ready to help you, from 8 am to 5 pm, ET, Monday
through Friday.
Due to
the necessarily conversational nature of taxidermy assistance,
a phone call is the preferred method. You can, however,
e-mail us your question and a telephone number at which
to call you.

Mike
Gillis - Research
and Development
|
|
|
After working as a full-time
taxidermist for nearly 25 years and serving as a night-class
instructor at a community college for seven of those
years, Mike Gillis was uniquely qualified when he joined
the staff at McKenzie Taxidermy Supply as the resident
taxidermist.
One
of his responsibilities is to try and help taxidermists
solve their taxidermy-related problems. Mike's background
suits this position where he enjoys helping solve problems.
If Mike doesn't have the solution to the problem, he
knows other sources that may be able to help.
Mike
shares his knowledge freely through regular articles
in trade magazines. He also travels to state, regional,
and national shows as a McKenzie Taxidermy Supply representative.
One
of the founding members of the North Carolina Taxidermy
Association, Mike is a former board member of the National
Taxidermy Association where he has earned the Award
of Excellence.
Mike
can be reached 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
at 800-279-7985.

Perry
Stout - Research
and Development
|
|
|
The third member of the McKenzie technical consultant
team is Perry Stout. He has used or tested just about every
kind of product we offer, and can be very useful when you
need the voice of experience.
Like many taxidermists, Perry
tried his hand at an early age. When he was twelve, the skill
building began, and within about ten years, he began seeing
it as a serious career. His first exposure was from an old
Shooter's Bible / Taxidermy Edition from the sixties, so Perry
is not one to take for granted the advances that have been
made in our industry.
Perry is from Ramseur, North
Carolina, in the heart of some of the densest whitetail populations
in the country. Initially specializing in fish mounts, he
has expertise in just about every North American game animal.
Perry travels to state, regional,
and national shows as a McKenzie Taxidermy Supply representative.
He is a strong advocate of show attendance by taxidermists
because it is the best way to pickup on new trends, techniques
and products in the industry. As in any profession, keeping
up on the latest advances in the taxidermy field is vital
for success. Stop and say hello when you attend a show with
a McKenzie presence.
Perry can be reached 8
a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 800-279-7985.
