Bobcat Claw Mounting Tip by Roger Martin

When mounting cats in a non-aggressive pose, the claws usually are not visible.

I've tried many different methods through the years to keep the claws retracted with varying results.

To date, the best method I have found is to simply cut them off.

After the toes have been rebuilt with clay, extend the claws out as far as possible and cut them off with a pair of wire cutters.

Be careful not to cut any of the hair around the claw.

After the claw is cut off, use a modeling tool to push the base of the claw (the remaining part attached to the skin) back up into the clay-filled toe and shape.

Some customers will want to see the claws. If so, keep the claws. If not, cut the claws off.
