Form Selection Advice by Tom Sexton

"To get the most accurate fit on your fish, you should follow the measuring chart above.

However, I have learned from experience that one fish may fit on as many as four to five different forms. Keep in mind, the larger belly sizes will produce a wider seam gap in the back. For example, I recently took in a fish that measured 13 1/2 by 16 (a perfect fit for FWLM59). However, my customer uttered those famous words "make it as big as you can." Knowing that shortening a fish skin will increase girth and lengthening the fish will decrease girth, I found five different forms that would work for this fish (FWLM51, FWLM53, FWLM55, FWLM59 and FWLM61). Some obviously fit better than others did but all would work if necessary. Each form gave the fish a different amount of belly ranging from the FWLM51 which created a perfect seam, all the way to the 18 inch girth FWLM55. I settled on the FWLM55 which gave the customer the "big pot belly" look he wanted. It created a little extra seam work and fin alignment but was well worth the look.

When selecting a Fishworks Fish Form, look for your exact measurements first, but be aware that it will probably fit a range of sizes."
